Mountain living subtype

Jolleraptors formed in Mountainous or Forest regions are called Billows, for smoke can billow into large clouds from forest fires or volcanic craters and be absorbed by these little critters. These Jolleraptors can either appear a bit bulkier and stronger like bears or slim and swift like deer or squirrels. Billows, even tamed ones, are the more "free" type of Jolleraptor, for they're always needing to move or bound about. Their fur is usually covered in leaves and they emit a thick smoke most of the time smelling of plants or woods, which, if you successfully keep one still long enough, can help you smoke foods and even leave a nice fragrance around you. But be warned, don't treat them poorly or else they will be quite feral with you. Be careful about petting Billow Jolleraptors, for some of these JR's form in areas of poisonous insects or plants either giving them a dangerous bite or fur lined with a coating of specific venoms.

Traits that Become Common on a Billow JR

  • Venom sacs/Venom coating

  • Little claws

  • Elemental fire smoke or fragrant smoke

  • Retractable teeth (can apply to any teeth)

Further Facts about the Billow JR subtype

  • The venom sac on a Billow is not always visible, it’s because it’s not always full. When a Billow exhales smoke, it is very thick and absorbs the environments qualities around it before reabsorbing the smoke and filling its venom sac and enhancing its ability to catch food.

  • Their fur can be quite coarse or even sticky; due to the venom contained within them often seeping through the pores and coating them as a self Defense mechanism from possible predators. It has proved extremely effective.

  • Recent tests have shown that the venom can vary in intensity and severity; it can be the equivalent to the secretions of the poison dart frog on earth in terms of toxicity to the sting of a bee. These can still bring negative effects to the predator if they try and attack. Further research is needed to develop antivenoms for owners of this subtype.

  • Any human owning a Billow will need to own a license in order to keep them, due to how deadly they can be and not enough studies done on them yet. The Astrion Research Facility will not be held responsible for any accidents if you are not in possession of this license.

  • As mentioned before, they can be rather bulky in build or even very dainty and slim - a good variety of builds amongst this subspecies. The more bulkier Billows have developed more muscle but not when compared to the might of the Brimstone Subtype.

  • Their diet consists of more fruits and plants in which they can absorb into their venom sacs and have one of the fastest metabolisms amongst the entire Jolleraptor species; able to digest 4 times their own body weight in as little as 20 minutes!

  • This subspecies is the second most feral and the second strongest of their kind to the Brimstones. This makes them very hardy when it comes to survival and can survive a 10 meter fall with ease.
